What this is
An evening of good people and real conversation. No badges, no pitch decks, just the kind of hang where you meet someone who makes your work (and life!) better. Come for the people, stay for the view.
Why Cleveland
Because this city has more heart, grit, and good healthcare humans per square mile than it gets credit for, and because the conversations that actually move things tend to happen after hours, not in a ballroom.
Location
6-8pm, Shoreby Club, 40 Shoreby Dr, Bratenahl, OH 44108**
**Will send arrival instructions closer to the date
One thing worth knowing
More than 760,000 working-age Ohioans, over 6% of the state, are covered through Medicaid expansion. New federal work requirements take effect by December 31, 2026, and everyone on expansion coverage will need to document qualifying activities to keep it. Estimates of how many Ohioans could lose coverage range from about 62,000 on the state's own numbers to more than 200,000 from outside analysts. Most of the difference isn't people who don't qualify, it's people who miss a form. Whatever you think about the policy itself, nobody wins when someone loses their doctor over paperwork.
One thing you can do
If you live in Ohio: take two minutes and tell your state rep this matters. Look yours up at legislature.ohio.gov, then send this:
COPY, PASTE, SEND
Hi [Representative], I'm a constituent in [your city]. As Ohio rolls out Medicaid work requirements, I'm asking you to make sure eligible people don't lose coverage simply because of paperwork or reporting gaps. Please support clear communication, real hardship exemptions, and a reporting process people can actually navigate. Where do you stand? Thank you.
If you're in from out of town: this is happening in some form in most states right now. If you know someone on Medicaid, the simplest thing you can do is make sure they've heard the requirements are coming and know how to report their hours or claim an exemption before they lose coverage over a missed deadline. And if this is your fight, come find me, connecting the people working on it is what these nights are for.
