It's not just my gram. We all have stories where the healthcare system failed us. Like my friend, who found out she was miscarrying again. When she went looking for the care she needed, she was turned away and told to wait. Not because the care wasn't available, not because she wasn't in crisis, but because the people around her were too afraid of the legal consequences to do what medicine is supposed to do. She went home without answers, without support, and without the basic dignity of a system showing up for her in one of the hardest moments of her life. What she had to go through when at home, instead of in a doctor’s office, is something no one should EVER have to go through. 

That's the thread through everything I build. I care deeply about the people this system too often overlooks, because these aren't abstractions to me, they're people I love. In another life I'd have gone and worked on the Hill. In this one, I get to convene people, amplify voices, and try to make the opportunities in our own backyards a little more real.

Outside of work, you'll usually find me with my husband Greg, wrangling our three dogs mid-bark at whatever they've decided is a threat in the backyard (a deer, an owl, or nothing at all), and surrounded by family and friends, because if I'm being honest, people and relationships are just as much the point at home as they are in my work. Cleveland summers on Lake Erie are my love language (and what I endure winters for), which, if you've made it this far, probably explains a lot about where Azul Heart's look and feel comes from in the first place. The water, the sun setting on the horizon, the calm… everything feels a little more possible with a view like that.

So that's me. Confident about what I bring to the table for my people, quick to credit the many people smarter than me, and always up for chatting about all the things in this industry.
