What this is
A Sunday Funday for the good humans in town for the Healthcare Innovation Summit. No badges, no agenda, just the kind of hang where you meet someone who makes your work better. Come as you are, wind down, and let's actually talk.
Why San Diego
Because you flew all this way, and the best part of any conference is the conversation that happens off the schedule. Also, it's San Diego. We'd be foolish not to.
Location
TBD
One thing worth knowing
San Diego is a good place to see what's actually at stake in healthcare right now. California estimates Medi-Cal could lose roughly 30 billion dollars a year as federal cuts phase in, and starting October 1, 2026, some lawfully present immigrants, including survivors of trafficking and domestic violence, lose full Medi-Cal and keep only emergency coverage. That hits San Diego especially hard because of its large refugee and immigrant community. Whatever your politics, the operational reality is a wave of newly uninsured patients showing up in emergency departments, and everyone in this room touches that downstream.
One thing you can do
If you live in California: look up your state legislator at findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov and tell them to protect Medi-Cal access. Send this:
COPY, PASTE, SEND
Hi [Representative], I'm a constituent in [your city]. As Medi-Cal faces major cuts and coverage losses, I'm asking you to protect access to care and avoid new barriers for people who are already medically vulnerable. Where do you stand? Thank you.
If you're just here for the Summit: you can still do something. The single most protective thing anyone on Medi-Cal can do right now is update their contact info with their county and watch their mail for renewal notices, so carry that back to your patients, members, or teams. And if this is your fight, come find me.
